How the Internet Works

What is the internet?
The internet is the largest wide area network in the world, made up of millions of other smaller networks. Email, web pages, instant messaging, games, and sites all come through the internet. The internet uses the standard internet protocol suite to link several billion devices worldwide. It's an essential part of our everyday life and is used frequently. Internet s used to describe any network that uses TCP/IP.

What is a protocol?
A network protocol are the rules established for how computers in a network communicate. They control the connection, communication, and data transfer between two computing endpoints. The first system was being used for email and was established on the APRANET. TCP( Transmission Control Protocol)/IP(Internet Protocol) is now the standard internet protocol.

What is DNS?
DNS is the Domain Name Service that translates addressesessential to internet communication. It looks up a host name and returns an IP address. Each part of the internet have DNS servers which find the IP address associated with the site searched. Usually home computers are configured to query their ISP’s name server or a free DNS name server.

Zapotopi

Do you belive this is a valid webiste?

No, I do not belive this is a valid website. The last time the site was updated was in 2008 meaning it is not up to date. Also, the site and topic itself just sounds pointless and useless. I don't really understand why someone would make or buy an AFDB and it doesn't give many reason on why you should either. It also proves it's an unreliable source from all the grammar and spelling mistakes. One last reason the website proves to be invalid is the factt that you cannot see wrote the information and who the site was made by. This is important when seeing if a site is trustworthy or not.

ID Theft Face-Off

"One of the best ways to protect your identity is by using online passwords only you would know - like your mothers maiden name or the last four digits of your social security number."

I answered "true" thinking that passwords as your mother maiden name would be good but the correct answer is false. People can easily find out that kind of general information about you and your family.

Trends and Factors

What 3 trends do you see in computer evolution? AND Why?

a) Computer size- As time goes by, laptops seem to be getting more and more smaller. The more portable, the better people seem to like them.
b)Touch-sreen- In this time period, many new things are evolving and especially technology. With phones being touch screen it seems like more tablets and computers and becoming touch screen and more advanced.
c)Mobile payments- Also throughout the years, as we've become more advanced in technology, I've seen more examples of places being able to pay online and even preferring that sometimes.

Name 3 factors that drive technological innovation.
  1. Curiosity
  2. The need and want for new and better things
  3. Intelligance
