Operating System


  1. An operating system is a type of software - True - Software are written instruction telling you what has to happen and operating systems do that as well, you need to download it
  2. Operating systems control the loading of software applications onto a computer - True - an operating system controls what needs to be done
  3. All operating system are for user preferences allowing you to customize your computer - True - that is part of what they're meant for 
  4. An operating system prioritizes the tasks that a CPU does - True - It thinks about what needs to be done first
  5. The following devices have an operating system: an apple iPod, a dell laptop, and a Nintendo Wii - True - All of these are considered a type of computer which need to operate somehow by an operating system

How the Internet Works

What is the internet?
The internet is the largest wide area network in the world, made up of millions of other smaller networks. Email, web pages, instant messaging, games, and sites all come through the internet. The internet uses the standard internet protocol suite to link several billion devices worldwide. It's an essential part of our everyday life and is used frequently. Internet s used to describe any network that uses TCP/IP.

What is a protocol?
A network protocol are the rules established for how computers in a network communicate. They control the connection, communication, and data transfer between two computing endpoints.The first system was being used for email and was established on the APRANET. TCP( Transmission Control Protocol)/IP(Internet Protocol) is now the standard internet protocol. 

What is DNS?
DNS is the Domain Name Service that translates addressesessential to internet communication.It looks up a host name and returns an IP address. Each part of the internet have DNS servers which find the IP address associated with the site searched. Usually home computers are configured to query their ISP’s name server or a free DNS name server.
